Coyote is well written and has an appealing post-apocalyptic storyline. The characters are inviting and jump right off the pages. It's NOT the same old storyline for this genre. Additionally, the author uses a unique writing style that is captivating and gives a more intimate perspective for the reader. Error free and well editoed so you know time and effort was put into this book. If you like the genre you will enjoy this book.I'm not going to give away the story or the suprises the author obviously went to great lengths to crate but the main character is brooding and believable but offset with different characters that contrast well with the primary protagonist.
Well executed and well written. I highly recommend Coyote to apocalyptic readers.

When I first started reading the science fiction book, Coyote by David L. Foster, I didn't really know what to expect. I hadn't even read the book's bio! But you know what?
This is my new favorite book of 2016.
Why? Well, this book really grabs you. Within the first few pages, I was hooked. I love it when books start in the middle of a conflict, and this one puts the reader right smack in the center of a post-apocalyptic wasteland. Not only does our heroine's story begin in the aftermath of what can only be described as a "hostile monster takeover," but we meet her as she's being hunted. By what? At first, we don't know exactly, but her actions, fears, and hesitations can only mean it's something intimidating, and extremely dangerous.
And all of that happens within the first chapter!
Without giving too much away, the story then follows the heroine, Coyote, as she journeys through Oregon, fighting to survive. Coyote is a very intriguing character because she is private and unsociable. Without compromising the audience's understanding of the character's desire for seclusion, the author does an incredible job of leaking information about her throughout the story. By the end of the book, we know a little more about her, but not much more than we knew at the beginning. In my opinion this is awesome, because it makes the character all the more believable...and it keeps me wanting more. Isn't that the desire of all authors? To entertain their audience and keep them reading?
There aren't too many other characters in the book (it IS a dystopian/post-apocalyptic story afterall) but each one is unique, colorful, and authentic. Even the "enemy," (the thing(s) our characters are running from and even fighting), is wonderfully imaginative. The "creatures" are intense and definitely scary, but they aren't TOO over the top to be completely outlandish and absurd. As far as science fiction books are concerned, this one is TOPS.
The author, David L. Foster, is a modest guy, full of humility. His bio states just that he's simply a man who likes to read stories so much, that he decided to write one of his own. His love of stories is obvious, even without reading his bio. Coyote is a GREAT story, and quite frankly, I don't believe anyone can WRITE a great story if they don't READ great stories. This is Foster's first book (on at least) and I must say, he has a natural talent for putting pen to paper.
So, in short READ THIS BOOK. Right now it's FREE with Unlimited (or you can purchase for $2.99). I look forward to reading more of his work, and can only hope there are more Coyote stories to tell.

Fantastic entry into the end of world genre. Much appreciated the strong female lead and the subtle nature of the plot - if the world did unravel quickly, "why" and "how" would be a mystery for most. Hopefully all readers read the footnotes - they add great depth to the work.
I thought the content of Coyote was very interesting... the storyline, the characters. Once I got into it (and it didn't take long), I didn't want to put it down and I'm really looking forward to the continuing series. This is the writer's first book and being so new, I could see that he could make the writing cleaner and clearer at times, but I still really enjoyed it and am looking forward to the books/writing just getting better and better!
This was one of those books once you start you cannot put down! If you like post apocalyptic novels this novel will surpass your expectations with the questions of morality of a post apocalyptic world. You cannot help but fall in love with the characters traveling through the world as you experience everything in through their eyes!
Sci-fi is not a genre I frequently read, but I chose this book for two reasons
1. I needed to read a sci-fi novel for my reading challenge.
2. My uncle wrote it and asked me to read and review it.
These two things being said, I really enjoyed this book for two reasons
1. Unique and interesting characters (the dog included).
2. Page-turning, descriptive and suspenseful fight scenes.
Overall, I have described this book as Divergent meets Hunger Games meets Predator. If you like sci-fi or post apocalypse stories, this one's worth a read.
Make sure you read the footnotes, it really helps you understand the story better.
